`Award-winning radio program, production outfit not a CPP propaganda arm' 



First, they got our award-winning radio program off the air.  Now they call our group a "propaganda arm" of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP).   



We, at Kodao Productions deplore the testimony of so-called Malacañang witness Jaime Fuentes as part of the Arroyo administration's repression and red-baiting not only of legitimate organizations but also on the media. 



  a.. On Feb. 24, DZRJ Radyo Bandido cancelled Ngayon na, Bayan!, hours after Presidential Proclamation 1017 was issued by President Arroyo. Rajah Broadcasting Network owner Ramon "RJ" Jacinto explained his decision was based on political differences with Kodao Productions. We have strong reason to believe that Mr. Jacinto's decision was influenced by the powers-that-be. 
  b.. Fuentes now claims that Ngayon na, Bayan! was part of the destabilization plot because our radio program interviewed CPP spokesperson Gregorio "Ka Roger" Rosal. 
  c.. Fuentes' sworn testimony is full of lies, as evidenced by his claim that in 1987, he was   "appointed" to Kodao, "isang propaganda yunit ng CPP/NPA."


First of all, Kodao Productions was formed only in 2001, a product of the EDSA People Power 2, when our video documentary on Estrada's ouster branched off to other audio-visual production.   Our group has since garnered awards for its video documentaries, the latest of which was earning second place honors in the 2005 Gawad CCP para sa Alternatibong Pelikula at Video.   



Even Ngayon na, Bayan! was awarded the 2002 Golden Dove Award for Best Public Affairs program for Radio in Metro Manila by the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP). It was also a consistent finalist in the Catholic Mass Media Awards (CMMA) from 2001 to 2005. Our   interviews with Gregorio Rosal were part of its being a news commentary program, in precisely the same way that hundreds of radio programs and stations have interviewed him. 



We challenge Fuentes and his handlers to prove that he was ever a part of Kodao's team of awarded filmmakers and broadcasters. He only deserves to be in the company of liars and thieves.
